SmartSens Launches Industry’s First 3MP Automotive CMOS Image Sensor with Integrated SerDes and On-Chip ISP
2026-9-10
Shanghai, China, September 10, 2026, SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, officially launched the SC365AT, a newly upgraded 3MP high-performance automotive-grade image sensor. As the industry’s first automotive CMOS image sensor integrating SerDes and on-chip ISP, SC365AT is built on SmartSens’ CARSens®-XR Gen 2 process platform. It adopts a 3.0µm single-pixel design and stacked BSI process architecture, and features core technologies such as CARLofic HDR™ and LFS (LED flicker suppression), delivering performance advantages including high frame rate, high sensitivity, and high dynamic range. With integrated SerDes and on-chip ISP, SC365AT effectively simplifies the hardware design of automotive vision systems while balancing high-speed transmission and imaging quality. The product complies with multiple automotive standards, including ISO 26262 ASIL B for automotive functional safety and AEC-Q100 Grade 2, bringing safe and reliable imaging performance upgrades to high-performance ADAS applications such as surround-view, side-view, and rear-view.

Integrated Automotive SerDes and ISP for Highly Integrated ADAS Vision Systems
As ADAS advances toward higher levels of autonomy, vision systems place higher demands on image sensors in terms of imaging performance, data transmission efficiency, and system integration. SC365AT, the industry’s first 3MP automotive CMOS image sensor with integrated SerDes, eliminates the need for an external serializer, enabling high-speed end-to-end direct connection from CIS capture to domain controller processing. Compared to discrete solutions, it reduces inter-chip latency and EMI risk, removes the external serializer and related passives, and significantly cuts camera module PCB area and BOM cost, offering automakers and Tier 1 suppliers a more integrated system design.

SC365AT supports on-chip ISP with self-developed LTM, PWL, and CIP image-processing algorithms, covering the full ISP pipeline across RAW, RGB, and YUV domains. It comprehensively optimizes dynamic range, noise suppression, and color reproduction for complex automotive lighting conditions. Deeply coordinated with the integrated automotive SerDes, the on-chip ISP unifies image capture, processing, and transmission, forming a complete high-speed linkage from optical signal input to serial data output.
Main Features
High Frame Rate
In key ADAS scenarios such as surround-view, side-view, and rear-view, insufficient frame rate causes stuttering, motion blur, or stitching misalignment, directly compromising perception accuracy and driving safety in parking and blind-spot monitoring. SC365AT delivers 40fps at 3MP full resolution, a significant improvement over the previous generation. A higher frame rate enables denser temporal sampling for smoother, more continuous dynamic capture, effectively preventing motion blur and information loss.
High Dynamic Range
For complex and changing automotive lighting conditions, SC365AT supports multiple HDR modes including CARLofic HDR™ and CARLofic HDR™+VS. In CARLofic HDR™+VS 4-frame HDR mode, three frames (high gain, low gain, overflow) captured in a single exposure cycle are combined with one VS (Very-Short) frame via multi-frame fusion, achieving an ultra-high dynamic range of 140dB. In scenarios with sudden light changes such as underground garage entrances, tunnel entrances, and nighttime oncoming vehicles, it effectively suppresses overexposure and preserves dark details, ensuring the automotive vision system reliably recognizes obstacles, pedestrians, and vehicle outlines.

High Sensitivity
Built on the CARSens®-XR Gen 2 platform, SC365AT combines stacked BSI with patented SFCPixel® technology to achieve a peak QE of up to 82% at 520nm. Its single-pixel architecture avoids the optical crosstalk and color deviation of large/small-pixel designs, enhancing sensitivity and image quality. This ensures sufficient light capture and clear, pure images in low-light environments such as nighttime roads and underground garages.
SC365AT uses advanced iBGA packaging, providing excellent electrical and thermal reliability, superior DPPM control, and reduced package/solder-joint failure risk. It meets high-performance ADAS requirements for temperature, stability, mechanical stress, and operating life, and complies with stringent automotive reliability standards. COB packaging is also available, offering flexible options for automotive camera system architecture upgrades.

SC365AT will be available for sampling in December 2026, with mass production in Q1 2027. For more information, please contact SmartSens Sales Representative: cs@smartsenstech.com.
