SmartSens Launches Upgraded 13MP and 5MP CMOS Image Sensors for Consumer Electronics

2026-8-13

Shanghai, China, August 13, 2026 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced the launch of two upgraded consumer-grade CMOS image sensors — SC1325CS and SC525CS. Both new products are built on SmartSens' SmartClarity®-3 technology platform and incorporate the proprietary SFCPixel® technology, delivering high sensitivity and low power consumption. They also feature comprehensive performance improvements in key parameters such as high-temperature performance, high dynamic range, and full well capacity (FWC). These sensors are well-suited for high-quality multi-camera imaging applications in smartphones, including main, front, ultra-wide-angle and macro cameras. SmartSens has now established a SmartClarity®-3 platform-based product portfolio including SC505HS (50MP), SC1325CS (13MP), and SC525CS (5MP), continuously providing imaging upgrade solutions for consumer electronics such as smartphones and tablets.

Main Features

Optimized High-Temperature Performance and Enhanced Power Efficiency

Smartphones have become the primary devices for everyday image and video creation. However, heat generation and high power consumption stemming from prolonged high‑definition video recording have emerged as bottlenecks hindering the advancement of mobile imaging. Optimizing power efficiency and thermal performance represents a key focus for ongoing CIS technology iterations.

The two new products achieve further improvements in power control — SC1325CS and SC525CS reduce power consumption by approximately 5% and 8% respectively compared to their predecessors, resulting in lower battery drain during high-quality video capture and thereby alleviating the burden that high-definition imaging places on device endurance.

In addition, both sensors excel in high-temperature performance, with dark current reduced by about 20% compared to their predecessors. This optimization effectively mitigates image quality degradation during extended video recording in hot environments and outdoor high-light shooting, helping devices effectively handle demanding scenarios such as video recording and live streaming.

High Dynamic Range

The growing diversity of smartphone imaging scenarios places higher demands on camera performance across complex lighting, from bright sunlight to low indoor light. Both new products achieve significant full well capacity (FWC) improvements through pixel design optimization — SC1325CS delivers a 12% increase over its predecessor, while SC525CS achieves a 16% increase. Their dynamic ranges reach 74dB and 72dB respectively, producing exceptional images with clear and detailed rendition across both highlights and shadows.

Both products leverage SmartSens' proprietary SmartClarity®-3 and SFCPixel® technologies to boost QE and low-light sensitivity, achieving 74% and 71% QE respectively. This delivers cleaner night footage, better detail retention across highlights and shadows, and balanced day-and-night imaging performance.

Meeting Diverse Multi-Camera Imaging Needs

SC1325CS integrates SmartSens' Sparse PDAF® phase detection autofocus, now upgraded to support Type 2 output mode for faster, more precise focus and improved SoC compatibility, ensuring users never miss a fleeting moment.

Designed for the mainstream smartphone market, SC1325CS suits rear main, rear ultra-wide, and front-facing camera setups. SC525CS targets front, ultra-wide, and macro cameras, while also serving PCs, tablets, and other consumer electronics, offering highly compatible sensor solutions across multiple device categories.

SC1325CS and SC525CS are currently available for sampling and are scheduled to enter mass production in Q4 2026. For more product information, please contact your SmartSens Sales Representative: cs@smartsenstech.com
