SmartSens Announces New 5MP CMOS Image Sensor with DSI-2 Technology for Analog Security Cameras

Shanghai, China, February 24, 2023 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically-advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced the latest CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) of SmartSens Pro series, SC5336P. As SmartSens’ first 5MP CIS with DSI-2 technology, the 3K resolution SC5336P employs SmartSens’ proprietary technologies including SFCPixel^® and ultra-low noise readout circuit, bringing vivid, full-color vision output under low-light conditions. 3K video output in a 16:9 format

In the mainstream security market, the development of 3K resolution applications is accelerating due to the following factors: While working with the same master control chip, a 3K resolution CIS matches a 1/2.7-inch lens, just as a 2K resolution CIS does; Though 4K resolution CISs provide better image capture than 2K and 3K resolution CISs, the data transmission for 4K resolution CISs requires more costs on bandwidth configuration. SmartSens SC5336P image sensor is now released, after the successful launch of SmartSens’ well-recognized 5MP security CISs in 2021. Utilizing DSI-2 technology, the 5MP SC5336P image sensor supports 3K video output in a 16:9 format, enabling analog security cameras to capture clearer videos with richer details.

Pro-series imaging performance in high-temperature environments

Developed on the 12-inch wafer, the SC5336P image sensor leverages SmartSens’ proprietary technologies including SFCPixel^®, DSI-2, and ultra-low noise readout circuit, achieving advanced low-light imaging performance. In high-temperature environments, certain specifications of SC5336P’s imaging performance are equivalent to those of similar 5MP BSI CISs in the industry. The upgraded technology used on SC5336P reduces the area of STI between PDs, which hinders white pixels and dark current effectively, and hence improved image quality in high-temperature environments. Compared with 5MP BSI CISs of similar specifications in the industry, SC5336P has a 64% drop in Dark Signal Non-Uniformity (DSNU) and a 25% fall in white pixels, which can remove purple fringing, therefore allowing for high-quality video output in high-temperature environments. The blooming of SC5336P is 55% lower than 5MP BSI CISs of similar specifications in the industry, which reduces the glow under backlight or night light effectively. In addition, SC5336P supports Staggered HDR mode with a dynamic range of more than 100dB.
