SmartSens Announces Two New High-Resolution CMOS Image Sensors for Security and IoT Applications
2024-9-10
Shanghai, China, September 10, 2024 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically-advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced two new CMOS image sensors (CISs), the 6-MegaPixel (MP) SC635HAI and the 5MP SC532HAI. Employing SmartSens’ advanced technologies including SmartClarity®-3, Lightbox IR®, ColGain HDR®, SmartAOV™, etc., the two new BSI image sensors feature high sensitivity, High Dynamic Range (HDR), imaging at high temperatures, low power consumption, and Always-On Video (AOV), delivering 3K resolution video output with excellent imaging performance for security and IoT applications.
Main features
Low light imaging
Both SC635HAI and SC532HAI utilize SmartSens’ advanced technologies including Lightbox IR® and multiple HDR technologies to achieve enhanced imaging performance in low light conditions.
SmartSens’ proprietary SFCPixel® and Lightbox IR® technologies provide both BSI image sensors with significant improvement in sensitivity and Quantum Efficiency (QE). Take SC635HAI as an example. At the 520nm wavelength of visible light, the QE of SC635HAI is more than 14% higher than its predecessor. The QE of SC635HAI at 850nm and 940nm wavelength are 26% and 21% higher than its predecessor, respectively. Meanwhile, the SC635HAI image sensor has a reduction of 30% in Read Noise (RN) and 17% in PRNU, compared with its predecessor. Therefore, the new image sensor provides clear, low-noise image capture even in low light conditions.
The two new sensors support 2-exposure staggered HDR and ColGain HDR® modes, which provide significant improvement in dynamic range, yielding high-quality, artifact-free image output with rich highlight and shadow details.
Imaging at high temperatures
Using SmartSens’ advanced technologies such as SmartClarity®-3, etc., the two sensors deliver optimized imaging performance at high temperatures. Take SC532HAI as an example. At a temperature of 80°C, SC532HAI has significant reductions of 63% in DarkCurrent (DC), 70% in Dark Shading, and 25% in White Pixel (WP) when compared with its predecessor, thereby enabling its high-quality, stable image output in high-temperature environments.
Low power consumption
The precise control of internal modules equips the two new sensors to achieve low power consumption. The power consumption of SC635HAI is less than 260mW at 60fps and less than 120mW at 30fps, respectively, which effectively saves power and reduces the heat of the whole camera during all-day operation.
Always-On Video (AOV)
Both SC635HAI and SC532HAI support Always-On Video (AOV). When a moving target is detected, the sensor is awakened quickly and captures videos at a frame rate of 30fps. When a moving target is not detected, the sensor captures videos at a low frame rate of 1fps. Therefore, the AOV enables the camera system to capture all-day videos 24/7, which also provides power savings for battery-powered devices such as home IoT cameras, 4G solar cameras, etc.
In addition, both sensors are pin-to-pin compatible (SC635HAI:41pin; SC532HAI:35pin), which enables customers to achieve camera upgrades seamlessly.
SC635HAI and SC532HAI are sampling now and will be mass-produced in Q4 2024. For more information or to request a sample, please contact SmartSens Sales Representatives: cs@smartsenstech.com
