SmartSens Launches 4MP SC450AI That Can Empower 24/7 Smart Cameras

2021-3-22

SmartSens today announces the SC450AI image sensor, which has expanded the Advanced Imaging (AI) Series product lineup of high-performance, low-light-capable image sensors with advanced HDR capabilities and reliability in the challenging environments launched last year. The new offering, 4MP SC450AI, designed with state-of-the-art image quality empowers 24/7 AI cameras.

The 1/1.8-inch SC450AI features the BSI-enabled PixGain technology and SmartSens' full-color night vision technology, employing SFCPixel® technology enhanced design architecture to increase sensitivity and reduce noise levels, resulting in higher SNR and high-dynamic-range (HDR) image performance. The SC450AI can outrun the common 4MP image sensors on the market by 73% in SNR1s, and 3.7 times in light sensitivity. This expands the sensor’s capabilities when shooting in the dark. At the same time, the use of multiple exposure in combination with PixGain Technology in the daytime helped to expand the dynamic range compared to its types on the market by 6 dB. Therefore, these attributes are integrated to provide 24/7 smart solutions demanded for image recognition systems and surveillance applications.

The SC450AI surpasses many same products in producing high-quality images under a high-temperature (80℃) environment with 51% and 82% reductions in dark current and white pixel correspondingly compared to the same products.

James Ouyang, Deputy General Manager of SmartSens said that the SC450AI sensor was developed to “extend our AI Series into higher resolutions” and “serve as a smart eye to IoT devices”.
