SmartSens Announces 15MP High-Performance CMOS Image Sensor for Intelligent Security Applications

Shanghai, China, January 8, 2026 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced SCC85HAI, a 15-MegaPixel (MP) CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) for intelligent security applications. SCC85HAI is built on SmartSens' SmartClarity^®-3 platform, and integrates SmartSens' advanced technologies including Lightbox IR^®, SmartAOV^®2.1, and InSensor HDR™. It has significant advantages in high sensitivity, low noise, high dynamic range, and Always-On Video (AOV). Besides, SCC85HAI features 5K resolution (5120H×3072V) and supports 16:9 and 1:1 aspect ratios, which meet the upgraded requirements of surveillance cameras for image clarity and field of view in large-range and long-distance scenes.

Main features

High resolution

SCC85HAI features a 15MP high resolution, enabling surveillance cameras to capture clear image details. In addition, SCC85HAI supports two resolution ratios: 5120Hx2880V (16:9) and 4096Hx3072V (4:3), which are compatible with both horizontal and vertical screen display devices, allowing for accurate horizontal and vertical fields of view with high-definition images.

High sensitivity

Based on SFCPixel^® and Lightbox IR^® technologies, SCC85HAI achieves significant improvement in sensitivity. The peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) of SCC85HAI reaches up to 81% at the 520nm wavelength. Compared with the competitor in the industry, the peak QE of SCC85HAI increases by 57% at the 850nm wavelength and 87% at the 940nm wavelength, respectively, enabling its clear and bright image capture in low-light scenes. Besides, its excellent near-infrared imaging performance also helps surveillance cameras effectively reduce the number of infrared lights, thus lowering the device's power consumption and heat.

Low noise

Employing SmartSens' advanced SFCPixel^® and ultra-low noise readout circuit technologies, SCC85HAI achieves a Read Noise (RN) as low as 0.63e-, which has a significant reduction of 34% when compared with the competitor, thereby helping surveillance cameras to capture clear and delicate images even in low-light scenes.

High dynamic range

Based on InSensor HDR™ technology, SCC85HAI has a dynamic range of up to 75dB while effectively reducing motion blur, which bring clear images without motion blur. In various lighting environments from narmal light to strong contrast light, SCC85HAI provides surveillance cameras with clear high dynamic range videos. In addition, SCC85HAI supports Staggered HDR mode, with a maximum dynamic range of up to 105dB, enabling cameras to capture images with richer details in complex lighting conditions.

Always-On Video (AOV)

Employing SmartSens’ SmartAOV^®2.1 technology, SCC85HAI supports Always-On Video (AOV). When a moving target is detected, SCC85HAI is awakened quickly and captures videos at a frame rate of 30fps. When a moving target is not detected, SCC85HAI captures videos at a low frame rate of 1fps in a low power consumption mode, which helps reduce the power consumption of battery-powered cameras and 4G solar-powered cameras, thus enabling cameras to capture all-day videos 24/7.
