SmartSens Announces 12.5MP High-Resolution CMOS Image Sensor for IoT Applications

(SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically-advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced SC1220HIOT, a new 12.5-MegaPixel (MP) CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) for IoT applications. Based on SmartSens' SmartClarity^®-XL platform, SC1220HIOT is equipped with SmartSens' advanced technologies such as SFCPixel^® and InSensor HDR™. It features multiple advantages including high resolution, high sensitivity, high dynamic range, low noise, and 4:3 aspect ratio, which meet the large field-of-view application requirements of fisheye panoramic cameras in IoT diverse scenes such as stores and shopping malls.

12.5MP high resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio

SC1220HIOT features 12.5MP high resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, making it suitable for large field-of-view applications of 360° fisheye panoramic cameras. Moreover, the high resolution of SC1220HIOT ensures that each screen displays clear images, which helps to improve security and management efficiency in various scenes such as stores, shopping malls, and office buildings.

Multiple performance improvements

Based on SmartSens' SmartClarity^®-XL platform, SC1220HIOT delivers excellent performance in multiple aspects such as enhanced Near-Infrared (NIR) sensitivity, low noise, and high dynamic range. Developed upon SFCPixel^® and ultra-low noise readout circuit technologies, SC1220HIOT achieves enhanced Near-Infrared (NIR) sensitivity and low noise. Compared with similar products in the industry, the peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) of SC1220HIOT has a 65% increase at the 850nm wavelength and a 103% increase at the 940nm wavelength, and its Read Noise (RN) is reduced by about 52%, thus providing clear and detailed images in low-light scenes.

Besides, SC1220HIOT supports InSensor HDR™ and Staggered HDR. InSensor HDR™ supports on-chip single-frame multiple-gain image fusion, which effectively reduce motion blur, helping IoT cameras to capture clear and high dynamic range videos without motion blur. In Staggered HDR mode, SC1220HIOT achieves a dynamic range of up to 102dB, allowing it to retain more bright and dark details, helping panoramic cameras to achieve clear recognition.
