SmartSens Launches 50MP Ultra High Dynamic Range CMOS Image Sensor for Smartphone Cameras

Shanghai, China, March 20, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, announced SC595XS, a 50-MegaPixel (MP), 1/1.28-inch CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) for smartphone cameras. SC595XS is made on SmartSens' SmartClarity^®-XL Pro platform, and is equipped with SmartSens' advanced technologies including SuperPixGain HDR™, SFCPixel^®-2, and AllPix ADAF^®. It features an ultra-high dynamic range of 110dB and multiple performance advantages such as low noise, high frame rate, low power consumption, and all-pixel all-directional autofocus. Therefore, SC595XS can significantly enhance the high-dynamic video shooting performance of flagship smartphone main cameras and bring professional-level imaging capabilities to the flagship smartphones.

Main features

Ultra-high dynamic range

Based on Smartsens’SuperPixGain HDR™ technology, SC595XS achieves an ultra-high dynamic range of up to 110dB, a significant improvement of approximately 22dB compared to its on the same platform. Therefore, SC595XS enables smartphone cameras to capture more detail in both bright and dark areas, reducing overexposured highlights and loss of shadow detail.

SmartSens' SuperPixGain HDR™ technology is implemented through three-frame fusion under a single exposure. Consequently, while ensuring the ultra-high dynamic range, this technology can also suppress motion artifacts. Additionally, SC595XS supports the recording of 4K 60fps SuperPixGain HDR™ videos and 4K 120fps videos, enabling the camera to achieve professional-level video shooting effects.

Excellent all-round capabilities

As a 50MP RGB image sensor, SC595XS features a large pixel size of 1.22μm and delivers excellent performance in multiple key aspects such as low noise, fast focusing, and low power consumption. Leveraging SmartSens' patented SFCPixel^®-2 technology, SC595XS achieves higher sensitivity and lower noise by centering the SF on the PD. This enables smartphone cameras to deliver brighter and clearer imaging performance in low-light environments such as sunset and nighttime. Moreover, the SC595XS is equipped with SmartSens' AllPix ADAF^® and Sparse PDAF technologies. In low-light environments, it can activate ALLPix ADAF^® mode to achieve fast and precise focusing through all pixel all direction autofocus. Additionally, the power consumption of the SC595XS is significantly lower than that of its predecessor on the same process and technology platform, which can effectively reduce heating during high-definition video shooting and improve the battery life of the phone.
