SmartSens Announces New 3MP CMOS Image Sensor SC326AT for Surround View Cameras

2025-7-10

Shanghai, China, July 10, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically-advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently expanded its Automotive Sensor (AT) Series with SC326AT, a new 3-MegaPixel (MP) automotive-grade CMOS Image Sensor (CIS). SC326AT is compliant with ISO 26262 ASIL-B and ISO 21434. Developed upon CarSens®-XR process technology, the 3.0µm BSI image sensor SC326AT achieves significant improvement in sensitivity, noise control, imaging at high temperatures, and power consumption control. SC326AT supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) of up to 120dB and has built-in ISP. Thus, the SC326AT image sensor delivers clear, precise image output, which makes it ideal for automotive surround view cameras.

Main features

High sensitivity

SC326AT incorporates single pixel architecture with upgraded BSI structure and material to achieve improved sensitivity and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) while retaining excellent color performance. The SC326AT image sensor has a peak Quantum Efficiency (peak QE) of 85% at the 520nm wavelength, enabling its bright and clear image capture under low-light conditions such as dim underground parking lots.

High Dynamic Range (HDR)

SC326AT supports PixGain HDR® + VS mode (3-frame HDR) with a dynamic range of up to 120dB. High dynamic range can effectively retain more image highlights and shadow details, which further resolves the loss of image details under complex lighting conditions including backlight and strong light, and thus improves the accuracy of detection and recognition of automotive imaging systems.

Low noise and low power consumption

Utilizing SmartSens' advanced technologies including CarSens®-XR, SFCPixel®, and ultra-low noise readout circuits, SC326AT achieves enhanced performance in noise control. With maximum gain mode enabled, Fixed Pattern Noise (FPN) is approximately 52% lower than its predecessor. At a high temperature of 105℃, the DarkCurrent (DC), DSNU, and White Pixel (WP) are reduced by about 47%, 74%, and 14%, respectively. These enable the sensor’s low-noise and stable image output for automotive cameras even during long-hour operations.

Thanks to SmartSens’ CarSens®-XR technology, the BSI SC326AT achieves ultra-low power consumption. With PixGain HDR® + VS@YUV mode enabled, the typical power consumption is below 350mW, which helps reduce the operating heat of the whole automotive camera, thereby improving the reliability and stability of automotive cameras.

Built-in ISP

SC326AT has a built-in ISP, which includes upgraded ISP algorithms. Featuring RAW domain, RGB domain, and YUV domain of the ISP pipeline, SmartSens’ upgraded ISP algorithms contain AGC, AEC, AWB, HDR, noise reduction, etc., which bring enhanced imaging performance in clarity, noise control, and color, thus resulting in its high-quality image output for automotive surround view cameras.

“SC326AT is SmartSens’ first automotive-grade CMOS image sensor to be domestically designed and manufactured. Compared with its predecessor, the 3.0µm BSI SC326AT achieves enhanced performance in sensitivity, noise control, imaging at high temperatures, etc., making itself ideal for automotive surround view cameras,” said Mr. Wenjie Shi, Vice President of Product Marketing at SmartSens Technology. “SmartSens AT Series features automotive-grade CISs with resolution from 1MP to 8MP, which satisfy the needs for applications including ADAS, automotive sensing, and in-cabin monitoring.”

SC326AT is sampling now and will be mass-produced in Q4 2025. In terms of packaging, SC326AT supports iBGA, which is pin-to-pin compatible with its predecessor. For more information or to request a sample, please contact SmartSens Sales Representatives: cs@smartsenstech.com
