SmartSens Unveils Ultra-Large Format Ultra-High Resolution Industrial Camera Image Sensor Series

(SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently launched a new series of industrial camera image sensors featuring ultra-large optical format and ultra-high resolution including SC4880RS (45MP), SC3080RS (30MP), and SC2080RS (20MP). Built on SmartSens’ proprietary SmartClarity^®-3 technology platform, the series incorporates the patented PixGain HDR^® technology and employs advanced mask stitching processes to enable large-format sensor fabrication. As a versatile portfolio, all three models deliver a large optical format, high resolution, high sensitivity, and high dynamic range, while also being optimized for high-temperature operation and long-exposure imaging quality to effectively reduce noise and white pixels. The series flexibly adapts to a wide range of industrial inspection scenarios, fully meeting the demands for high-precision, full-coverage defect detection in products such as lithium battery films, OLED screens, photovoltaic wafers, EU-standard lithium battery metal casings, and PCBs.

Main Features

Ultra-Large Format and Ultra-High Resolution

Leveraging accumulated expertise in large-format linear image sensor manufacturing, SC4880RS, SC3080RS, and SC2080RS utilize advanced mask stitching technology to enable large-format area array sensor fabrication. The three new products offer ultra-high resolutions of 45MP, 30MP, and 20MP respectively, precisely capturing minute surface defects and significantly improving inspection accuracy.

They are widely applicable in defect detection for lithium battery films, OLED screens, photovoltaic wafers, EU-standard lithium battery metal casings, and PCBs. Notably, SC3080RS and SC2080RS feature a 1:1 aspect ratio, making them suitable for AOI optical inspection cameras to meet the demands for high-precision, diversified industrial inspection. Additionally, SC4880RS adopts a 2.7-inch standard industrial camera optical format, ensuring broad lens compatibility with mainstream large-format lenses and providing reliable visual support for industrial inspection.

High Sensitivity and Low Noise

Thanks to SmartSens’ advanced SmartClarity^®-3 technology platform, SC4880RS, SC3080RS, and SC2080RS deliver excellent light sensitivity, reaching 15,323 mV/lux·s. At 32x analog gain, the industrial camera series achieves a readout noise as low as 0.86e⁻. With superior sensitivity and low-noise performance, these sensors capture clear and bright images even in low-light conditions, effectively reducing reliance on external auxiliary lighting and delivering high-quality, detail-rich imagery for inspection equipment.

High Dynamic Range

For inspecting reflective surfaces like OLED screens and EU-standard lithium battery metal casings, industrial cameras often suffer from overexposure or loss of dark-area details. SC4880RS, SC3080RS, and SC2080RS integrate PixGain HDR^® technology, delivering a dynamic range of 71.5dB (Normal) and 88.11dB (PixGain HDR^® mode), enabling precise defect capture even in high-contrast scene imaging and precise defect capture. The technology also suppresses motion artifacts, ensuring clear and smear‑free imaging for high‑precision inspection.

Optimized Long-Exposure and High-Temperature Performance

For inspecting OLED screens, photovoltaic wafers, and EU-standard battery casings, long exposure is required to detect subtle defects but tends to amplify noise and white pixels. SC4880RS, SC3080RS, and SC2080RS optimize 30s long‑exposure performance with a white pixel count (DPC off) of just 12.9k significantly outperforming the industry standard of 16k, ensuring cleaner images.

Built on SmartClarity^®-3, they further optimize high-temperature imaging performance, effectively suppressing white‑pixel generation at elevated temperatures. Additionally, for APS-C format products, SmartSens offers a COB‑packaged SC2080RS alongside the traditional CLGA option for APS‑C formats, C formats, providing customers with more flexible and cost‑effective choices.
