SmartSens Unveils 8K & 16K High Resolution Linear CMOS Image Sensor for Industrial Line Scan Cameras

2026-3-19

Shanghai, China, March 19, 2026 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, today unveiled two new additions to SmartSens Linear Sensor (LA) Series, the 8K resolution SC835LA and the 16K resolution SC1635LA. Leveraging SmartSens’s proprietary SmartClarity®-3 technology, the two BSI image sensors with stitching process deliver multiple advantages including high line rate, high sensitivity, low power consumption and low noise. Available in both monochrome and color versions, the SC835LA and SC1635LA are designed to meet the demands of high‑speed industrial inspection for ultra-long objects, providing efficient vision output for high-end industrial line cameras.

Main Features

High Resolution

Both the SC835LA and SC1635LA achieve high resolution, high line rate and low power consumption by employing advanced SmartClarity®-3 technology and upgraded BSI and stitching process in high-speed industrial inspection. Leveraging stitching technology (pattern division, double exposure and precision stitching), the two sensors enable 8K and 16K high-resolution and large-size linear CISs manufactured on a single wafer. They provide a wide field of view for large objects like wide‑web films and large mechanical components while accurately detecting tiny surface defects.

High Line Rate & Low Power Consumption

Both the SC835LA and SC1635LA achieve maximum line rates of 150 kHz and 100 kHz, respectively, matching the pace of industrial production lines to prevent image distortion or data loss caused by low line rate, thus ensuring uninterrupted inspection. The two sensors also support 32x analog gain, significantly reducing power consumption in operation. Compared with similar products in the industry, the SC835LA reduces power consumption by up to 60%. In 24/7 continuous production scenarios, power consumption optimization helps high‑end industrial line scan cameras reduce heat generation, extend device lifespan and lower maintenance costs.

Enhanced Image Quality

Industrial production lines often encounter complex lighting conditions, such as uneven illumination and dust. The SC835LA and SC1635LA employ PixGain™ technology to enhance sensitivity and dynamic range, delivering accurate color and rich details under varied lighting.

The monochrome SC835LA achieves a peak QE of 95.8% in the visible spectrum – about 30.9% higher than comparable products with BSI and stitching. This ensures clear detail even in low light for 24/7 inspection systems.

Optimized Dynamic Range

The sensors employ PixGain™ technology, which selectively switches between High Conversion Gain (HCG) and Low Conversion Gain (LCG). For the SC835LA, FWC reaches 10 ke⁻ in HCG and 36 ke⁻ in LCG. In low lighting, HCG mode improves sensitivity and reduces noise to show dark details. In bright conditions, LCG mode prevents highlight clipping and preserves bright‑area detail. This flexible switching enables clear images under complex lighting, ensuring reliable and accurate inspection.

Quadlinear Color Mode

Both sensors are available in monochrome(1/2/3/4-line) and color (Quadlinear mode in RGBW) versions to address diverse requirements. The monochrome version supports 1/2/3/4-line modes, which can be selectively enabled to achieve an optimal balance between brightness and line speed. In Quadlinear RGBW mode, the sensors deliver bright, detailed, and true‑color images with richer information. These flexible output options can effectively improve the efficiency of production lines.

Both the SC835LA and SC1635LA are available for sampling now and will be mass-produced in Q2 2026. For more information or to request a sample, please contact SmartSens Sales Representatives: cs@smartsenstech.com
