SmartSens Announces 2.6MP and 6MP High-Performance CMOS Image Sensors for IoT Applications

Shanghai, China, September 17, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced two new CMOS Image Sensors (CISs), SC256HIOT (2.6MP) and SC630HIOT (6MP), which employ SmartSens’ advanced technologies including SmartClarity®-3 and SmartClarity®-2, respectively. Based on SmartSens’ InSensor HDR™ and SFCPixel® technologies, SC256HIOT and SC630HIOT feature high dynamic range, high sensitivity, and low noise etc., which help IoT cameras to capture high-quality images without motion blur in various environments, such as high-contrast or low-light environments. Besides, SC256HIOT and SC630HIOT apply 1:1 aspect ratio, which helps fisheye cameras to achieve a more complete imaging field of view, meeting the needs for larger field of view in various IoT applications such as smart doorbells/door locks and fisheye panoramic surveillance cameras.

Main features
1:1 aspect ratio
With the development of security market, there is a growing demand for wide-angle IoT applications such as smart doorbells/door locks. Traditional CMOS image sensors with 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios are constrained by its rectangular structural design, when paired with fisheye lenses, it is prone to causing vertical field-of-view blind spots, which prevent the doorbell cameras from fully covering the vertical view of porches, thus leading to identification issues.
SC256HIOT and SC630HIOT adopt 1:1 aspect ratio. Compared with 4:3 or 16:9 rectangular aspect ratios, 1:1 square aspect ratio more accurately matches fisheye lenses’ circular field of view, which meets the panoramic vision requirements of IoT applications such as smart doorbells/locks and fisheye surveillances.

High dynamic range
Equipped with InSensor HDR™, the highest dynamic range of SC256HIOT and SC630HIOT are up to 87dB and 80dB, respectively, which help IoT cameras to deliver clear images without motion blur. Compared to Staggered HDR, InSensor HDR™ can effectively reduce motion blur when cameras capture moving objects, allowing every dynamic moment to be clearly captured. Meanwhile, InSensor HDR™ supports DR100, DR200, and DR400, making it suitable for scenes from narmal light to strong contrast light. It ensures that imaging highlights are not overexposed while the dark areas are more clear. Customers can switch among three dynamic ranges based on different light conditions. In addition, InSensor HDR™ supports single-frame multiple-gain image fusion, which helps the host controller to optimize memory, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs.

High sensitivity and low noise
Incorporating SmartSens' SFCPixel® and Lightbox IR® technologies, SC256HIOT features high sensitivity. Compared with the predecessor, the peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) of SC256HIOT achieves a 28% increase at the 520nm wavelength, a 51% increase at the 850nm wavelength and a 160% increase at the 940nm wavelength, and its Read Noise (RN) is as low as 0.64e-, enabling IoT cameras to capture clear and detailed images even in low-light conditions. Moreover, based on the excellent low-light imaging of SC256HIOT, the infrared light opening time of doorbell cameras can be significantly reduced, thus effectively reducing power consumption and heat.


Multiple applications
As high-performance image sensors of IOT series, SC256HIOT and SC630HIOT meet the requirements of different application scenes. Equipped with Lightbox IR® technology, SC256HIOT features 2.6MP resolution and 2.9μm pixel size, providing reliable support for low-light imaging of smart doorbells and locks. SC630HIOT features 6MP resolution, which not only suits the close-range applications like smart doorbells, but also meets the fisheye panoramic monitoring needs of larger areas such as courtyards and garages.
