SmartSens Announces New 4MP CMOS Image Sensor for Intelligent Security Applications

Shanghai, China, May 22, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, recently announced SC4336H, a 4-MegaPixel (MP) CMOS Image Sensor for intelligent security applications. Utilizing SmartSens’ advanced DSI™-3 and SFCPixel^® technologies, with 1/3 inch large optical format, SC4336H has excellent performance in high sensitivity, high color reproduction, low noise, and low power consumption, which makes it ideal for intelligent security applications.

Main features

Near-Infrared (NIR) enhancement

Developed upon DSI-3™ process technology, SC4336H achieves Near-Infrared (NIR) enhancement through optimizing wafer epitaxy and front-end processes. Compared with its predecessor, SC4336H has a 21% increase in peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) at the 850nm wavelength and a 15% increase in peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) at the 940nm wavelength, providing clearer and brighter images for cameras in low-light scenes, meeting the needs of surveillance cameras at night.

Visible light imaging enhancement

Based on DSI™-3 process technology, SC4336H has excellent sensitivity in visible light imaging. Its peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) is better than similar products of FSI process at the 520nm wavelength, making image quality comparable to sensors of BSI process, which helps the camera to obtain more accurate and clear images.

High color reproduction

In low light environments, sensors can easily capture images with color distortion. SC4336H is equipped with SmartSens' advanced microlens and color optimization process technologies, which can accurately present bright and colorful images.

Low noise

Employing SmartSens' advanced SFCPixel^® and ultra-low noise readout circuit technologies, SC4336H has excellent noise performance. Compared with similar products in the industry, SC4336H has a significant reduction of 53% in Read Noise (RN) and 72% in Fixed Pattern Noise (FPN), which helps to capture clear, delicate images for cameras even in low-light scenes.

Low power consumption

The precise control of internal modules equips SC4336H to achieve low power consumption. The power consumption of SC4336H is less than 120mW at a frame rate of 30fps, which reduces the heat caused by the long-term operation of the camera and meets the all-day video recording needs of security applications.

In addition, SC4336H is pin-to-pin compatible with its predecessor (CSP 35pin), which can be seamlessly replaced on the basis of existing hardware, helping customers accelerate the upgrade of cameras.

As the first product of SmartSens H series for intelligent security applications, SC4336H has performance advantages of the predecessor, and performs better in sensitivity and color reproduction, which fully meet the performance upgrade needs of intelligent security applications such as indoor Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras and outdoor surveillance cameras. In the future, SmartSens will add more image sensors with DSI-3™ process technology, help the upgrade of multiple terminal applications, and promote the intelligent development of the security industry.
